Laced With Romance "Stars of Summer" Giveaway

Umm..who else really wants to win this giveaway?

Starting today June 30, you can enter the drawing for a chance to win this handmade "Dust & Drag" label stars and stripes robe by spending $20.00 at Laced with Romance in store (1601 S. 1st Street, Austin, TX 78704) or online or by following the Laced with Romance blog.  The winner will be announced at dusk on Monday, July 4 via Laced with Romance's Facebook page.

Believe it or not I still haven't actually stepped foot inside the Laced with Romance store.  Which is absolutely insane especially considering how blown away I was with their collection at the last Fashion Freakout.  I'll be hoppin on over there ASAP and you should too (if you're in Austin.  And if you're not I feel sorry for you.)

Free People Summer Catalog Sneak Peek

If y'all didn't come to the launch party for Free People's summer catalog which was shot in Austin featuring local band The Happen Ins, you missed out. (Luckily I documented all the cool style for you.)  But, I know you are still curious to see the catalog photos, right?  The catalog doesn't come out til July 5th, but luckily I have a sneak peek for you!

The photos by inspirational photographer Alexandra Valenti (who has also shot for Austin based stores Feathers Boutique and Laced with Romance) are absolutely gorgeous.  And models Ashley Smith, Anastasia Khodkina and Jessica Mau are way too pretty.  I think everyone did a beautiful job of capturing Austin's casual rock n' roll vibe.  What do you think?

Style Profile: Nikki Cloud

Every time I am out and about I notice people's style.  I have decided to start documenting even more of this by profiling interesting Austinites who I find over and over again to be sporting a fun unique style.  It's time to get to know the people who are keeping Austin stylish a little better!  I hope y'all enjoy....

One of my favorite boutiques in Austin is Feathers.  I try not to visit it TOO much because of fear of going broke after buying everything they have.  But it's a great place to go for some unique style inspiration, not only because of the clothes on the racks, but also because of the ladies who work there.  It's always fun to see what outfits these gals are wearing.  Lately I have been digging the style of Feathers' own Nikki Cloud.  Just when I'm thinking I need to wear more body hugging outfits, she has me longing for oversized drapey apparel.

One of the rare born and raised Austinites, Nikki also studied apparel design at the University of Texas.  Her Altered Vision blouses can be found at Feathers (when they aren't sold out.)

Keep reading to learn more about Nikki and find out her must haves for summer!

My Outfit: Neon Tribal

I usually hate shopping online.  I like to see things in person before I buy them because I'm really into how things fit and feel.  It's one of the many reasons why I prefer to shop locally.  But, I am starting to really like the online store, Nasty Gal.  I purchased 2 dresses off of Nasty Gal recently and while one I loved immediately, I wasn't completely sold on this yellow dress upon first try on.

I realized it was supposed to be a super loose fit dress.  That was actually part of the initial appeal for me since it has been scorching hot lately (a girl needs some breeze).  But when I first put it on I felt a little like it made me look like I was pregnant.  But, the longer I had it on and the second I accessorized it with  my tribal looking necklace, I realized it was too funky to pass up.

The citrus yellow color is definitely what sold me on the dress.  And it happens to look amazing with my hot pink lipstick which I am obsessed with lately...

Charmed by Charm School Vintage

"Shhh don't tell her about it." That's what a girl said to her friend who was telling me about a vintage store on the Eastside that I just HAD to go check out.  I don't blame her.  I used to be this way about vintage stores and pretty much anything that I thought was cool.  I felt like if I told other people about it then it would get too popular and instantly would lose it's appeal.  It's especially scary to tell other people about a vintage store because you fear that if it gets too popular then it will be harder for you to make your brilliant finds.  But, obviously I got over this fear because now I have a blog where I shout to the world (the world of Austin at least) my favorite places to shop.

And, I officially now have a new favorite one.  Sorry to the girl who didn't want the world to know about Charm School Vintage... I'm writing about it anyway.

My Outfit: Coral and Gold

It's hard to get dressed up when it's 100 degrees outside.  Most clothes I have in my closet that seem appropriate for late night events and cocktail hours are either tight fitted and/or dark colors.  Neither of these things are appealing when you're sweating.  That's why I fell in love with this dress from SoLa.  It's a one shoulder looser fitted dress, and the bright coral color is perfect for summer.  I loved the look I achieved with nothing but gold accessories, but I would also love to see this dress paired with some turquoise jewelry.

TOMS Reveals Their Next One for One Product

Today was the day.  TOMS revealed that their next One for One Product is....Eyewear!  Did you guess it? I had a couple of ideas but eyewear never came to my mind, but it totally makes sense.

"from this day forward TOMS is not a shoe company.  It's not an eyewear company.  But it's a One for One company."

Pretty cool.  I dig it.

TOMS, What's Your Next Chapter?

TOMS (the charitable company responsible for making the preferred shoe of hipsters in Austin) are about to reveal the next chapter of their One for One campaign.  Yes, TOMS is cranking out a brand new product.

One of the vaults that will be opened on June 7th was at the Tribeza Lawn party last night, and since seeing it my mind has been racing.  What could be in there??

If TOMS was just another popular shoe company, the obvious choice is that they would reveal something like a clothing line or some type of other accessory, right? T-shirts, shorts, cotton dresses maybe?  But, considering that the point of TOMS is to give shoes to children in developing countries so that they are less likely to get diseases and more likely to attend school, it's interesting to try and guess what would be another beneficial One for One product.  Maybe it's completely unrelated to fashion.

What product do you think TOMS will reveal next Tuesday?

If you are just dying to know, you can go to Tyler's on the drag or Nordstrom at Barton Creek on Tuesday June 7th at noon for the big reveal!
