Tribeza Style Week: Tribeza Fashion Show

Tribeza Style Week came to a close last Thursday night with the Tribeza Fashion Show featuring looks from By George, Feathers Boutique, Moss Designer Consignment, Y and I Boutique, Underwear, Estilo, Service Menswear, c.jane, The Garden Room, Kendra Scott Jewelry, Julian Gold, and Saks Fifth Avenue.  I thought the styling of this show was a step up from last year's as it involved more layering, detail, and texture.  It should come as no shock that my preferred looks of the night came from my personal favorites, Feathers and Moss.  Can I please have one of those colorful sequin dresses?...please?  Trends from this colorful, rich looking, and wearable runway included:

1) fur

2) sequins

3) fringe

4) knee high boots

5) vests for the guys

For some reason I couldn't stop dancing and wiggling in the photo pit, but I managed to get photos nonetheless (except for that one outfit that walked down the runway when the lights went out...)

Tribeza Style Week: Shear Style Hair Show

Although I was mildly disappointed to not see a boat or a birdcage on top of anyone's head, the Shear Style Hair Show last week was a fun and interesting show nonetheless.  While Ron King Salon showed off some stellar everyday type of hair styles, it was the high fashion looks from Propaganda Hair Group that stole the show.

Tribeza Style Week: Rock and Runway Show

Men's fashion shows are few and far between in Austin, so I was pleasantly surprised that one of 3 fashion shows of Tribeza Style Week was the all men's Rock and Runway Show.  The venue of the American Legion house combined with the abnormal amount of men at a fashion event made me feel like I was back in college hanging out at a frat house.  But luckily the fashions provided by By George, Allens Boots, and Service Menswear were not reminiscent of frat boy style.  I thought Service Menswear had a great collection at this show and provided the most variety of style with their looks which included some particularly cute nerdy chic outfits with a vintage vibe.  UT Fashion Show winner, Colton Gerard, showed off his impressive toggle coats once again which were responsible for his Best Collection win earlier this year.  And By George brought the most sophisticated looks to the show making the models look put together and dapper.

Upcoming Event: TRIBEZA Style Week

Now that we have all rested up after our OD of Austin Fashion Week, it's time to hit the fashion bottle again and indulge in another week of style with TRIBEZA Style Week.  Thursday September 22nd kicks off Style Week with a boutique crawl of one of Austin's more upscale shopping areas, 2nd St. District.

Personally, I can't get enough of this stuff so I am super pumped for another week of stylish events and fashion shows!

Upcoming Event: Fashion's Night Out

Tonight is Fashion's Night Out! FNO is a global shopping event that was created in 2009 to celebrate fashion (and help boost the economy).  You can check out the Fashion's Night Out website for a list of events happening in Austin at retail chains.  But, here are a few local Austin boutiques that are participating in FNO that you won't find listed on their site!..


Celebrate Tribeza's September Style issue at By George's FNO event with music, drinks by Pacifico and Deep Eddy Vodka, bites from Blackbird Bakery, and looks for fall .

Style Watch: Tribeza Lawn Party

Where: The French Legation Museum

Summer is now in full swing in Austin and Austinites at the Tribeza Lawn Party were dressed appropriately in their bright and colorful summer attire.  Lots of vintage wear, funky sunglasses, and floral print dresses at this East side shindig.

Recap: Tribeza Style Week Fashion Show

Tribeza Style Week may have kicked off with an all men's fashion show, but the pinnacle of the week was the main Fashion Show which featured mostly female looks from Saks Fifth Avenue, The Garden Room, Underwear, Adelante, Peyton's Place, Missbehave, Service Menswear, c.jane, Valentine's Too,  Julian Gold, and Estilo.

There were several pieces that came down the runway that I thought were really beautiful, and there were 2 main trends that I noticed at this show:

1) Fur vests
2) Shiny metallic and sparkles

Recap: Rock + Runway Show

It may have been the first day of Fall, but the night was still balmy when Austinites gathered at ND at 501 Studios to celebrate men’s fashion.  Tribeza Style Week kicked off last Wednesday with the the Rock + Runway Men’s Show which presented the newest looks from three local stores - Service Menswear,  Estilo,  and Stag.

While images of Austin street-scapes flicked on a wall, models walked the runway showing off modern Ivy League looks mixed with sleek hipster-wear. Sweaters of all shapes and weights were featured along with jackets, sneakers, and midi-boots.

Cords and denim were popular pant choices. Many of the models wore a necktie or scarf. Plaids and 80s inspired prints were popular for shirts and some sport coats. Earth-tones were very prominent. Dain Higdon, owner of the Texas Clothier, commented that the look was a throw back to the traditional styles of the 1920s and 1930s, reinterpreted with a slimmer cut and modern details.

Tribeza Style Week Presents: Rock + Runway Men's Fashion Show

Tribeza Style Week kicks off next Tuesday with an (invite only) kick off party.  The main fashion show will take place on Friday Sept. 24th at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum featuring looks from Adelante, C.Jane, Estilo, Eliza Page, The Graden Room, Julian Gold, MISSBEHAVE, Peyton's Place, Saks Fifth Avenue, Underwear, and Valentine's Too.

But, the show I am most looking forward to is the Rock + Runway Men's Fashion Show.  Why?  Because this will be the first all local mens fashion show I will attend.  First of all, there aren't that many local stores that carry a lot of mens fashion (although, it is definitely growing.)  The addition of STAG was a huge help to the stylish male market.

This Month's Tribeza

Normally when I first pick up a magazine, I look through the photos and then decide if I want to actually read the articles or not (I can't help the fact that I'm a visual person and a photography snob.) So when my eyes came across the "Black Canvas" photo spread in this month's Tribeza magazine, I was blown away and forced to actually do some reading (heaven forbid I read something longer than a text message.)

The photographer behind the "Black canvas" photo spread was Dan Winters. No wonder I was pleasantly surprised by the April issue. Dan Winters is a widely recognized and award winning photographer who shoots regularly for magazines such as The New York Times, Esquire, GQ, W Magazine,and more. He has shot portraits of various celebrities including our current President. Dan Winters has 3 residences, one being in Austin, but this is his first time to shoot a spread and cover for Tribeza.

The spread features clothes and jewelry from St.Thomas Boutique, Saks Fifth Avenue, Feathers, By George, Neiman Marcus, Eliza Page, Julian Gold, and Beyond Tradition with hair by Jose Luis Salon and makeup by W3ll People.
