SoLa Roaring 20's Fashion Show

This Thursday there are 3 fashion shows going on.  Yes, 3!

First of all, it's time for the annual fashion show by local boutique SoLa.  SoLa is my old stompin grounds, so I know first hand that they put on a great show.  They are doing things a little bit different this year though.  Instead of the typical runway show, they will be showcasing the outfits on live mannequins/models throughout the store.  This will give everyone the opportunity to spend time looking at the fashion instead of it all being a blur.  It will also give photographers (like me) the chance to actually get some good photos!

The theme this year is a roaring 20s feel with lace, ruffles, volume, and prints.  They will be serving up some beverages by Paula's Texas Spirits and Dripping Springs Vodka with DJ Ozone and Mike Sway providing the music.

5% of the sales from this night will benefit SafePlace.

Recap: Fashion Rocks The Belmont

I have to admit, when I don't have tickets to ACL, ACL weekend kinda makes me want to lock my doors and hide under the covers.  However, I sucked it up and somehow made my way downtown to check out the fashion show at the Belmont on Saturday night.

The show started off as promised with some flame throwing tricks.  One of these dudes actually briefly caught his ear on fire!  They then proceeded to swing the fire out into the crowd getting very close to my camera.  Luckily my camera did not end up like that guy's ear.

The fashion show featured looks from Langford Market, Betsey Johnson, and local designers Rachelle Briton, Ana Reign, and Ross Bennett.

Honestly, I didn't see anything on this runway that I would be dying to actually wear.  Maybe this show just wasn't my style.  In fact I was not a huge fan of how some of the girls were styled...

But, there were a few interesting things to take note of.  I did really  like some of the jewelry by Ana Reign.  I have seen her jewelry up close at a previous event and I especially like her big statement rings.  She definitely has some beautiful pieces (but of course nothing I could afford.)

The Queen of Hearts dress by Rachelle Briton is a creative and interesting piece, but I had seen it before so it wasn't as exciting to me as it should have been.  Definitely worth scrolling down and taking a look at if you haven't seen it.

Pobably the most interesting thing though, was Ross Bennett's pink dress because it is a part of his "little pink dress campaign."  For the entire month of October, you can order a custom little pink dress made to your measurements and 20% of each sale is going to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Fashion Rocks The Belmont

Fashion show tomorrow after ACL!  Luxe PR Promotions and the Belmont have teamed up to present what (sounds like) is going to be an awesome fashion show event.  This show will feature looks from local fashion designers Rachelle Briton, Ross Bennett and retailers such as Langford Market and Betsey Johnson.

On top of the fashion there will be go-go dancers, DJ David Davros Smith, and flame throwers!  Not to sound like a psycho, but, anything with fire gets me excited.  Go-go dancers are also a selling point.  I think I'm going to start living a double life and work as a go-go dancer at night (shhh don't tell anyone).

The best part about this event though is probably that there is no cover.

Monday night Austin Fashion week continued with the fabulous "Fashion Wonderland" event from Linda Asaf Design Studio and Rachelle Briton Designs. The inspiration for the event came from these 2 pieces:

Young Women's Alliance Fashion Show

This Friday the Young Women's Alliance presents Fashion Evolution, a fashion show featuring Austin designers Linda Asaf , Rachelle Briton , and Margarito Alonzo's men's fashion.

There will also be exclusive shopping  from Beyond Tradition, Limbo Jewelry Design, Solettos, and Stella & Dot.

If you wanna attend this PIMP event at the elegant Driskill Hotel, you can get a VIP ticket for $100 that gets you a seat with a glamour swag bag or you can get a General Admission ticket for $40.

If you are anything like me and you are scared by things that require a cover charge over $5, then you can at least attend the after party at Speakeasy's Kabaret Room which costs $5 without a Fashion Evolution ticket (free for those who attend the fashion show).
