SoLa Fashion Gate '09

New SoLa fashions are being presented to you in a fabulous runway show next Thursday! Because I have had a behind the scenes look at what will be shown, I can assure you that there is some super cool stuff! Along with a great fashion show to watch, there will be other entertainment as well as free food (I tried it and it was delicious) and drinks!

SoLa Fashion Gate is taking place next Thursday November 19 with doors opening at 8pm at the South Lamar location. The store will have extended hours after the show so that you can purchase anything you see in the show. Yours truly will be there along with the other stylish SoLa chicas helping out, so make sure you come say hi!

Holiday Charity Fashion Show at Soigne

Tomorrow November 12th from 6 -8pm, Soigne Boutique is having a pre-Holiday Fashion Show to benefit The Miracle League of Town and Country. The Miracle Leaugue is a non-profit organization that allows disabled children to play baseball. Soigne will be handing out swag bags to the first 50 people with discounts and goodies from JR Salon, Breath and Body Yoga, Apothecary Cafe, Camp 4 Paws, and more.

20% of all sales that evening will be donated to The Miracle League, as well as donations at the door.

Cocktails and appetizers will be provided by Cover 3 and Sampaios.

Local Costs Less: The Multifunctional Scarf

It's getting cold (sort of), and I have the perfect accessory for the fall/winter season that will keep you feeling warm and looking hot! I introduce to you the "circle" or "infinity" scarf. This little guy suffers from a personality disorder where he doesn't know whether he wants to be a scarf, a wrap, or a hood. I suggest you embrace his quirks and wear him how you please. This type of scarf was featured on the Oprah show on Monday. You can find the one Oprah featured at the Limited for $39.50 or you can get a larger version at American Apparel for $28.
But because I know my Austinites would like to get this look for less, you can keep it local and go to SoLa where they have the "circle scarf" for only $18! It comes in a variety of colors, so you have some options. And just so you know, these scarves are super soft and made of the same material as their more expensive and less local counterparts.

(In case you want to rush out to SoLa to get one of these babies, make sure you go to the SoLa that is in the Triangle at W.47th st. because the SoLa on South Lamar is closed til Sunday for remodeling.)

Fashion FAIL of the Month

It's only 3 days into the month of November and I am sad to say that I already have the Fashion Faux Pas of the month: denim on denim. Come on Austin! I know we live in Texas so we have the whole cowboy and jeans look going for us sometimes, but seriously, this is just too much. Pick one or the other: denim on top OR denim on bottom. Preferably denim on bottom! Who wears a denim shirt? This guy does apparently, and it's just not doing it for me...or any other woman on the planet. Friends don't let friends dress like this. If you know someone who tries to commit this crime, don't let it happen. We have to get together and save one another in the fight to keep austin stylish.
