Fashion FAIL: Pajamas in Public
Pajamas in public sadly is a common fashion FAIL for Austinites. However, this time is particularly bad for several reasons:
1) The pajama pants are Christmas themed...
2) She is walking with not one but two other people, which proves that she clearly is not ashamed of this look and her friends and/or family let her walk out of the house like this.
3) Visible bra straps lead one to believe that she had time to put on a bra. If you have time to put on a bra, then you should have time to put on real pants.
4) This photo wasn't even taken in the middle of the night or super early in the morning. It was taken at 1:00 in the afternoon.
If I have to put on real clothes, then so do YOU.

Fashion FAIL: Bathrobe in Public
photo submitted by Patrick Meredith
I like to be somewhat lenient on my Fashion Fails because it's Austin and we are known for being weird (and sometimes this includes wearing weird things). But in the case of this photo...this is fashion laziness, and just laziness in general. A pink polka dotted bathrobe is a cute clothing item for the BATHROOM or lounging around the house. This is not an acceptable thing to wear outside the house even if you are just going to Thundercloud to get a sandwich (which is what is happening here). At least put on some pants! Geez.
I'd like to note that as a nice contrast to the bathrobe FAIL, the girl next to her has on some killer heels that I'm pretty sure are the same ones I have and wore in this photo shoot.

Fashion FAIL: what have I done?
I vowed at some point in my life to never wear sweatpants or anything like sweatpants out in public. But, there I was the other day, going straight from a long day of work to yoga and then home to quickly cook dinner because I was starving. At this point I should have taken a shower and changed, but I was really wanting some frozen yogurt for dessert. By then it was 10:30 and my favorite frozen yogurt place near my house, Berry Austin, closes at 11. This is the result:
Thanks to my bff Josh for fashion failing me.
Hopefully this is the last time I have to Fashion FAIL myself, but, I'm not making any promises.

Fashion FAIL: put on a shirt
"you're not bartending at Beauty Bar right now" -my friend Josh
I don't care if you are an "artist", you're in some crappy band, or even if you have a nice body. Not wearing a shirt at a party is just unacceptable...unless it's a pool party OR you are a baby.

Fashion FAIL?
So, this is really just more of a Fashion WTF, than a FAIL. Because I didn't actually see this girl fall and break her ankle DOWNTOWN at a bar on 6th street, I can't really technically call it a FAIL. The shoes are actually kinda cool in a barbie drag queen in Miami sorta way. But, would you wear these downtown? I feel like I would fall in those even without a drink or two. Not to mention, the pain of walking around all night. Maybe she was only at that one bar for a short period of time? I actually see vertically challenged girls wearing these types of shoes a lot and I don't see how y'all do it for an extended period of time.
So, the question is, would YOU wear these shoes downtown?
By the way, I realize this post makes me sound like an old lady, but I'm okay with that.

Fashion FAIL of the Month...Again
*Sigh* I hate to have to do this again. We are still in the first week of March and sadly the Fashion FAILS are all around me. This time the FAIL is wearing shorts or pants with symbols on the butt.
I guess this whole thing started back in 2001 when Juicy Couture decided it was a great idea to make track suits something that people thought were stylish and appropriate to wear out in public. But the ridiculousness didn't stop there. They had to write "JUICY" on the butt to make it that much more fashionable. I hated it then and I still hate it now.

This poor girl looks like she accidentally sat on a recently painted bench. If you want to draw attention to your behind, do it with a pair of jeans that fit you perfectly or a cute fitted skirt.
Just remember, your butt is not a billboard.

Fashion FAIL of the Month
It is the first day of March and I already have this month's Fashion FAIL (formerly knows as Faux Pas). I'm sad to say that March's crime against fashion was committed by my very own boyfriend...wearing pajamas in public.

There's really no excuse for this unless you are sick, it's 4 in the morning, or maybe 3 years old. Even these excuses are stretching it. Put on some real pants babe.
me: "Are you going to wear slippers?"
the bf: "Yeah, it's a hippie grocery store."

Fashion FAIL of the Month
It's only 3 days into the month of November and I am sad to say that I already have the Fashion Faux Pas of the month: denim on denim.
Come on Austin! I know we live in Texas so we have the whole cowboy and jeans look going for us sometimes, but seriously, this is just too much. Pick one or the other: denim on top OR denim on bottom. Preferably denim on bottom! Who wears a denim shirt? This guy does apparently, and it's just not doing it for me...or any other woman on the planet. Friends don't let friends dress like this. If you know someone who tries to commit this crime, don't let it happen. We have to get together and save one another in the fight to keep austin stylish.
Thanks Nick for sending in this photo. If you find a fashion faux pas in Austin and you would like to send it to me, email me at joannaftw@gmail.com with "fashion faux pas" in the subject line.

Fashion FAIL Of The Month
I was at work today looking out the window (probably daydreaming about my next outfit) when I saw a horrible crime against fashion and mankind. A woman was walking down the sidewalk in a see through black wrap dress without a slip or anything under it except for a bra and a thong. When I look out the window I don't want to see a bare butt walking down the sidewalk...at least not until Leslie gets back out on the streets again.
Ladies, please don't let this happen to you. People were laughing at this girl after she walked by them and I was embarrassed for her. I have a few tips for making sure this doesn't happen to you:
1. Check your outfit in outdoor lighting. The sunlight can have a different affect on material than indoor lighting.
2. Take a picture of your outfit with a camera using flash. This is particularly helpful if you are going to be somewhere where your picture is going to be taken. Flash can make material see through that you would never think to be see through.
3. Just hold your fabric up to a light to see if you can see through it.
Maybe this girl wanted to walk down the street naked, but I don't think it was on purpose. So be careful before you walk out of the house!
