I don't know if y'all noticed, but, last Thursday my Events page was filled with a row of back to back fashion events. I did a little party hopping and already buzzed from my Stella Says Go birthday party drink, I made my way to the Strut 512 event which was raising money for Spirit Reins. Spirit Reins is an awesome organization that uses horses to help emotionally or behaviorally challenged children.
By now I have totally gotten this whole Austin fashion show thing down. I know that if I get to a show much later than when it is supposed to start I won't miss anything. This is because Austin fashion shows are almost always horribly uncoordinated and never start on time. Therefore, I wasn't as much concerned about when the fashion show would start as I was concerned about how much tequila my margarita had in it. After convincing the bartender to put an extra shot in my drink, I think I would have enjoyed this fashion show no matter what the fashion looked like.
After my bathroom break I naturally made my way to the bar again to get another drink, because, why wouldn't I need a drink while I'm shooting runway photos? By the time the show started I think I was pretty drunk so it definitely might have been the tequila talking but, I actually enjoyed this fashion show. I especially liked seeing the artsy "Project Runway grocery store challenge" type repurposed designs from San Antonio designer John Castro of Kastro Kills. That last gold dress was like if Princess Leia in the gold bikini had a love child with C-3PO.
Check out my photos from the show:

Your pictures look great! Thank you for coming and hopefully next time the advertisments will display the accurate time for the show.
Perhaps if you had any photography skills, weren't intoxicated or, even there for the coordination, maybe you would actually understand what was going on. All in all, for what it was, everyone there without their needless, pessimistic attitude, was pleased. However, I do want to say thank you for bashing the majority of people there that volunteered their good hearts and efforts to make this charitable benefit possible.
I actually didn't bash anyone in this review. Maybe you should re-read it. And I'm not sure why me having better photography skills would help me "actually understand what was going on." Pretty sure I understood what was going on anyway. It was a fashion show, not brain surgery.
The show was dope. It didn't start on time; that's where we got the phrase "fashionably late" people...I submit that Anonymous was in fact Michelle Utt!

My review was actually really kind compared to this one: http://www.austinpost.org/content/strut-512-beyond-fashionably-late
I'm not sure who the anonymous comments are from, but they're not from me. I apologize for any confusion related to the time the fashion show was to start. We had fashion and music listed from 7:30-10:00 and the live auction and music were also listed before that on the schedule. I will take the blame though for not making that more clear.
I just want to keep the focus on the real reason Valerie and I planned this event, and that was to raise money for Spirit Reins and give back to the community. I hope those that came out had a great time and appreciated the purpose of the event along with the other entertainment, fashion and sponsors who graciously donated their time and services for the events.
Thank you Joanna for coming out, I appreciate the review and we'll just ignore all the haters.:)
Michele- I actually wasn't sure when the fashion show was supposed to start, because yes it wasn't made that clear. But there was talk around me about how late the show was running. I think those people were also confused. Like I said, I actually expect things to run late anyway so I honestly wasn't even annoyed by it. But it sounds like it was all just a communication problem. I had a great time at this event. I thought the show was fun. And it was all for a good cause, so it was a success in my eyes. Thanks for inviting me out!
I can honestly tell you that this designer is full of it.. he work it crap ... His total persona is so unprofessional and it saddens me just to see his work. He makes stuff out of crap and tries to get people to pay for this little talent.
I do not recommend this designer at all.
I would never buy any of that stuff (that would be crazy), but i thought it was kinda fun to look at...
